Straight out of DC comes the alternative indie-ish DIY band, The Object Lesson. In the band's music you can sort of pick out different elements that show influence from bands that a lot of us are familiar with. For example, I find their instrumentals remind me of Interpol, and believe me there is nothing wrong with that. You can definitely feel Interpol especially in the beginning and throughout 'Luna' and definitely throughout transitions in most of their songs. What sort of gives The Object Lesson a twist though, is their vocals. They aren't necessarily poppy and in some cases contradict poppy beats in the songs, but in a way that is really sexy. The vocalist's voice is just so brooding and deep and sexy and manly and you almost feel like he's singing at you, which is a great connection to be able to make through a song and a listener.The Object Lesson - Terraform Download!
